Who we are

World Olivet Assembly (WOA) is a global Denomination of Evangelical Churches and para-churches that exist for the advancement of world mission. The denomination is structured through regional and national assemblies. As a denomination in the Presbyterian tradition, World Olivet Assembly traces it’s heritage back to the reformation in the 1500’s, specifically the work and teachings of Jon Calvin who served in Geneve during the mid-16th century. The Lamott Garden builds community by offering a green space and the invaluable opportunity to grow fresh produce with our own hands

Our Vision

Our vision for the La Mott Community Garden is to create a vibrant, sustainable, and welcoming space for people of all ages and backgrounds to build friendships, promote health and sustainability. A green space where people can grow food, flowers and herbs and to celebrate what our Creator has given us. Our garden will promote enjoyment of the outdoors, provide relaxation and alleviate stress through personal endeavors and also encourage inter-generational and inter-cultural interactions and learning. Ultimately, we envision the garden as a place where gratitude to God and the beauty of creation come together to enrich our lives and our community.

Our History and our Future

The La Mott Community Garden has flourished on nearly a square block for over 80 years, serving as a vibrant and cherished space within our community. As we look to the future, our goal is to expand and enhance the garden, particularly by creating dedicated areas where our youth can engage in learning and growth.

Our future plans include:
Promoting Sustainable Agriculture: Educating youth on sustainable practices to reduce food transportation costs and minimize environmental impact.

Plant Care: Teaching young people the importance of caring for plants and the environment. Building Transferable Skills: Providing skills that can be applied beyond gardening, such as teamwork, problem-solving, and project management.

Increasing Nutritional Awareness: Helping youth understand the benefits of fresh, locally grown food and healthy eating habits.

Improving Psychological Well-Being: Offering a therapeutic and calming environment that supports mental health.

Fostering Intergenerational Connections: Creating opportunities for youth to connect with and learn from community members of all ages. Through these initiatives, we aim to ensure the garden remains a thriving hub of education, community engagement, and environmental stewardship for generations to come.
